LAND OF BEING
A body of performance and time-based art birthed in the olive groves of Uleila de Campo, Spain.

The world is one great living tissue, through which we feel through phantom limbs.
In a poetic act I was buried on my birthday among the olive trees. A psycho magick ritual enacted a part of a time based art piece BEFORE THE BEGINNING [ the body within & without ]. An attempt to return to / grieve / revel in the magick of the human experience. A prayer for the personal and planetary in a world largely stoned on banal consumption, high on fear and drowning in destruction.
Leading up to the act I created a series of clay dolls to symbolise each 7 year cycle of my life, who i tended to, meditated on, slept beside & eventually laid to rest where my body had once been. Unfired & surrendered to the elements, gradually returning to earth from which they came. As we all do.
In the portal that was the LAND OF BEING, we began witnessing balloons of dust rising from the olive groves in the stillness of the blue hour. On the third day of this repeated phenomena I asked Jaime if I could document his process.
Having never witnessed the act up close, I filmed Jaime's process blind, unplanned and unknowing. Curiously I following his body dancing with the elements, chasing the tail of his holy moments, entering the trance with the subject of my gaze.
